Cedar Siding

Cedar Siding Shakes

Cedar Valley Handcrafted Shingle Panels
Cedar Valley has an impeccable reputation among architects, builders and designers. The Cedar Valley One-Course Shingle System is a classic way to add beauty and value to your home. Western Red Cedar Shingles have no exposed fasteners and a blind nail application. The prefabricated system can be installed up to four times faster than individual shingles and requires only standard tools. Standard panels are eight feet in length and are available in three exposures and three styles. Cedar Valley Shingle Siding System is fully integrated and complete with panels, corners, column wraps, and specialty products. It also comes in a wide array of factory finishes and colors.

Cedar Shakes

#1 Tapersawn Shake
This shake has a naturally tailored look of a shingle but is complimented by the sharp shadow line of a shake caused by the thicker butt. It is popular in the west Coast of British Columbia and is becoming more and more popular in the rest of Canada and the USA. #1 Tapersawn is cut from clear heartwood with no defects.

#2 Tapersawn Shake
This shake is a reproofing product for residences. It is also used for wall shake application, starter coursing, sheds, etc. The lower half is clear. The top half allows tight knots and other limited defects. Flat and cross grains are allowed.

Heavy Handsplit and Resawn Shake
A split and Resawn Shake, also known as a Heavy Resaw, is heavier and thicker than any other shake. This shake is sawn on the backside and the face is split with the natural grain of the wood, which gives it a highly textured surface. This gives your roof a rustic appearance.

Medium Handsplit and Resawn Shake
A Medium and Resawn Shake, also known as a Medium Resaw, is cut in the same manner as the Heavy Resaw but is not as thick or as heavy. It is cut from clear heartwood and gives the roof a very textured look.

Tapersplit Shake
Reversing the block, end for end, with each split, produces the Tapersplit Shake. Being largely produced by hand with a mallet and froe, selected parts of the tree are required for this shake. It is cut from clear heartwood with no defects. The appearance will give a less rustic, rippled shadow line.

Straightsplit Shake
Also known as the Barn Shake or Ranch Shake, the Straightsplit Shake is commonly mistaken to be used only for barns. It is produced mainly by machine but can be split with a mallet and froe. This shake is split from the same end of the block, which produces the same thickness throughout. It is cut from clear heartwood. The appearance creates a rippled shadow line on the roof.

Cedar Lap Siding

Knotty Siding
Knotty Siding is kiln dried for stability that limits splitting and checking. It is a tight knotted product that is available in 11/16" x 10" plain bevel and 5/4" x 6" or 8" rabbetted.

Selkirk Bevel
This cedar siding is lightweight and easy to work with. It can be cut, shaped, planed, sanded, nailed and glued easily. Great for the professional or do-it-yourselfer. Can be enhanced with transparent or full-bodied stains or with paints. Available in 11/16" x 6", 8", or 10" standard bevel and 11/16" x 8" rabbetted bevel.

Haida siding is kiln dried to 14%. The skirt does not have a repeating pattern. A thicker profile emphasizes the shadow line that enhances the appearance. Available in 15/16" x 12" bevel and 15/16" x 12" skirl.

Clear Bevels
Clear bevels deliver the timeless look that only cedar can offer. Clear Vertical Grain offers the best possible solution for painting. Graded both sides lets you use either the rough or smooth face. Available in ½" x 4", 6" or 8" Aye & Better, ½" x 4", 6" or 8" CVG, ¾" x 10" Aye & Better and ¾" x 10" CVG.
