Friction Fit (Un-Faced Insulation)

Spring Lake Park Lumber stocks friction fit (un-faced) Guardian Building Products brand insulation. We are also able to order Kraft Faced (paper backed) insulation in various R-Values.

Guardian Fiberglass Insulation contains 30% post consumer glass and 5% post-industrial recycled glass. When installed properly, this insulation helps save money and energy resources and of course will allow your home or building to be more temperature controlled throughout the years. This insulation meets Minnesota Insulation Standards Program guidelines as well. Another advantage of Guardian Fiberglass Insulation when installed properly is that it increases sound transmission class (STC) ratings.

Insulation is rated in terms of thermal resistance called R-value, which indicates the resistance to heat flow. So, if the R-value number is higher, the greater the insulating effectiveness will be. Many factors will dictate the R-value of the insulation including the type of material, its density and its thickness. It is important to know what the R-value should be for the area you are insulating.

Currently, Spring Lake Park Lumber stocks R11, which is good for 2 x 4 construction and R19, which is good for 2 x 6 construction and R38, which is generally used for attics.
